This week’s episode is going to touch on a very trending topic, which is that latest announcement by Instagram: “Instagram is no longer a photo-sharing app.”

I’m going to share my take on what this really means and how this announcement affects you as a business owner, whether you are a soloprenuer or a company.

Instagram did not say that they’re getting rid of in-feed posts or the ability to share photos in the app. But what did they come out and say is that they’re putting more focus on videos.

I’ve shared this to my community here in Mums With Hustle and with the members of my Social Method Society… and what I want to highlight in this episode is that Instagram has been moving in this direction for years.

Out of the five ways to share content on Instagram ecosystem, four of them are video-based:

Aside from highlighting video contents, Instagram also shared key areas they will be focusing on going forward. These include Creators, Instagram Shop and Messaging. So you can expect more features will be rolled out on Instagram.

On this week’s podcast, I’m going to answer a question from one of the beautiful members of my Social Method Society: “I sent a gift to an influencer and they didn’t respond at all. What do I do now?”

The law of reciprocity is that they will want to thank you or share it with their audience or do something in return. But when someone doesn’t respond in this way it can make you feel… confused and also let down.

Girlfriend, know that if an influencer did not acknowledge your gift, it could be because of various reasons such as:
– Maybe they never received it;
– Or maybe they did receive it and meant to thank you but they forgot.
– Maybe they feel uncomfortable acknowledging the gift because they fear the expectation that they have to give you a shout out or share it but they can’t or don’t want to.

If this ever happens to you, I hope you don’t choose to let how you feel in this situation dictate what your relationship looks like with an influencer beyond this point.

I also hope that this one experience doesn’t prevent you from ever gifting things to others.

The world needs more kindness and not less. The world need more random gifts without expectations and gifts that come from a place of love.
