My name is Liona, I am 30 years old and I live in Launceston, Tasmania, with my husband Ryan and our 3 year old daughter Mia.

It was after having my daughter in 2012 that I felt I needed a creative outlet. I'd always wanted to try making fabric button earrings because although there were some about, there were none in the colours and patterns that I liked. I started making some and surprised myself with how much I enjoyed it! I then started selling them at local markets and through my Facebook page. In 2014, after being inundated with Facebook orders, I opened the Poésie Handmade online store! I made my online store through Big Cartel on my own, and it's the best thing I have ever done (minus having my daughter)!

With a passion for creating and a love of colour and patterns, it was only natural that I combine the two and create the Poésie Handmade jewellery brand. I love the whole handmade process – from the original idea stage, jotting down ideas excitedly, to tracking down the right supplies to bring an idea to life, and of course – and in my opinion the best bit – the execution!

I pride myself on creating unique, original design jewellery for the modern girl/woman/mum to make a statement!

I started Amali 6 weeks after I had my 2nd little boy. I was made redundant just before he was born so I wanted to know that I was still contributing to our family's income and also finding something that was ‘for me'.
