How This Single Mum Mastered Her Mindset (Part 3/3 In Our Special Motherhood Meets Entrepreneurship Series)
Your mindset is everything when it comes to living the life of your dreams!
I honestly get a little giddy every time I sit down with one of my Social Method Society members to talk about how far they've come in their entrepreneurial journey. I can already feel the butterflies, and I haven't even introduced today's guest who is extremely driven and the blood of an entrepreneur courses through her!
Today's guest is Wilhelmina Ford! Willo is the creator of ShareAbode, a platform that connects single parents for co-living so they can share the cost of rent and expenses and gain friendship and support emotionally and logistically.
During this episode, Willo is going to explore her motherhood journey and share how she has overcome her money mindset blocks a single mum who is running a non-profit. And in true Mums With Hustle fashion, Willo is going to dive into her best mum hacks or household hacks that has helped make her dream come alive.
>> [0:23] Today’s podcast episode is part three of my three part special When Motherhood Meets Entrepreneurship. If you’ve missed part one and part two, please feel free to go back and listen to MWH 195 : Building Your Business Around Your Life with Jennifer Berson of Jeneration PR and MWH 196 : My Best Tips For Working At Home With Toddlers. You’ll find those episodes inspiring and full of takeaways, so you may want to take notes!

And in true Mums With Hustle fashion, Willo is going to dive into her best mum hacks or household hacks that has helped make her dream come alive.
>> [05:28] Willo has always been very entrepreneurial driven; however, when her son was born she lost her passion around her first business. When Willo fell pregnant the second time, she started to have an outgrowth of who she used to be. Over the course of her being pregnant with her second, she decided to sell her business and she left her abusive partner.
Willo's Mindset Breakthrough
>> [10:10] During this life altering change, Willo had a mindset breakthrough. She realised that maybe everything she was going through was actually the road to get her to where she was meant to be.
>> [11:08] Parenthood is a personal growth journey in and of itself. Willo was in a place where she didn’t know anyone and there was a lot of pressure as a single mum.
>> [12:55] I really wanted to explore Willo’s motherhood journey a bit more.
What are some of blocks that Willo had around motherhood?
- Willo didn’t think she was worthy of having a relationship with a man who was actually good.
- She burst through this block because of fear. Fear doesn’t have to hold you back, it CAN be a massive catalyst for change.
>> [16:56] Willo founded her not-for profit, ShareAbode, to give safe and affordable housing to other single mums and dads. ShareAbode is that passion reignited that I’d lost and that's because it was created from experience, from my pain points as a single mum.
>> [20:30] How has Willo managed to overcome money mindset blocks as a single mum when building her business? She has started this business without the intention of making money.
>> [22:42] Willo’s money story always comes back to her self worth.
>> [29:57] When it comes to our mindset we have to honour who we are on the inside, so we can change the outer world as well.
>> [30:43] Everyone can create a schedule that works for them! In this section, Willo shares in depth what her current schedule is like.
What is Willo’s current schedule?
- Willo wakes up early (between 4:30 am – 5:00 am before the kids wake up) to do 15-20 minutes of self-development reading (which she has been doing every day for the last two years).
- Then she creates a to-do list with only the urgent and important things that must be done. Willo emails this to herself as if she’s her own VA.
- She has breakfast with her children before going to the gym for bout an hour and a half.
- Willo converted her garage into a playroom for her children to play, where she also works while they play.
>> [44:55] Willo has a bunch of collaborations and projects coming up that are all about homelessness, domestic violence, community, support, environment and coming together for a greater good. She is currently working on building her communities and nurturing them, getting funding to make the platform more user friendly, mobile friendly and with some good marketing behind it.
>> [48:00] Massive thanks to Willo for sharing her truth and her wisdom. You are a gift for coming onto the podcast, and I know this episode has inspired so many women. This episode does conclude our three part special!
