You do not need a big audience.

You do not need a slick launch, a webinar funnel, or perfect tech.

What you need is to commit in front of people who will hold you to it, and then personally invite the right-fit women who are already waiting.

This week I sit down with Ali Broinowski, founder of Cloth & Feather in regional New South Wales, and now The Curated Home Method. Ali came into the Freedom Filled® Mastermind at the start of this year with no online course and no experience launching a digital offer. She is now mid-delivery of her first cohort, and she is telling the truth about all of it.

Including the part where she opened the doors and nobody came.

This one is for the coach, the creative, the practitioner and the service provider who has been quietly sitting on expertise she has not packaged up yet. If you have ever wondered whether it is too late, Ali is 57 and just getting started.

What you will take away:

• Commitment beats intention. Life will always hand you a reason to put it on the back burner, so say it out loud to a room that expects you to deliver.
• A small warm list, personally invited, will out-convert a launch you are not ready for. 40 on the waitlist, doors open, silence, then one woman, then individual emails took it to 10.
• Aim for five in your first launch. Five is imaginable, and five is a real cohort.
• Use the strategies that match the size of business you actually have. Under 50 on a waitlist means you invite every single person yourself.
• Real beats polished. A brand new account, 37 unedited posts, one front facing reel filmed in the car at 4.30pm in bad light, and a community that grew from 50 to 4,716 people.
• Your buyers write your messaging. Launch on your best educated guess, then refine the promise from what your first cohort tells you they got.
• You do not have to be good at everything. Your highest value is the CEO seat, not the automations.

Top 3 Tips for Starting an Online Store

1. Never be afraid to just start very small with one product or one range. Starting is the main thing, you can expand from there at your own pace. Position yourself in the marketplace and then bloom or branch out from there.
2. Spend time nurturing relationships with other bizmamas. I find Instagram is a great place to find likeminded souls. I’d also recommend seeking at least one quality mentor. Your mentor doesn’t have to be in the same field as you, they just have to be somebody who will help you reflect with honesty on what you’re doing.
3. Take quality photographs, the best that you possibly can. Take a course, find the best lighting for your product. If you can’t do it yourself it is absolutely worth paying someone to help you or to do it for you.

Hi my name is Amanda, I have been married to my wonderful husband Dan for 6 years and been together for 14 years. We have a beautiful little boy Cooper, who is 3 1/2 years old, and we are due to have our second baby in February.

Both Dan and myself grew up in the beautiful Southern HIghlands and moved to Northern N.S.W 9 years ago to live on at 2000 acre cattle farm near Dorrigo.

I started my little handmade business 2 years ago while at home with my little boy who is my #1 supporter and thinks everything I make is “beautiful” and I love that the thinks that because he is my main reason I started doing what I do today. Before I had Cooper I would have never attempted to make anything!!

After Cooper was born I was wanting to do something creative while helping out with the bills, I started out using Liberty of London fabric making fabric button earrings, hair ties and other bits and pieces. After a while I was looking to do something a little different and ventured into polymer clay jewellery, mainly making earrings, necklaces and keyrings.

I started off doing a few local craft markets not long after I starting making my jewellery and then was lucky enough to get some of my items stocked in local shops. I love creating affordable and fun jewellery and I love the fact that I can be at home with Cooper whilst making an income for myself.

I’m a university Arts student, I major in Sociology and History and would love to become an ESL teacher after some further study. I’m also a blessed mother of one amazing little boy and fiancé to a super supportive, generous and caring man. We live in the Southern Highlands of NSW, which is where I started my small business from home. Like so many others, I was on maternity leave and my humble Etsy shop became a creative outlet for me and a little dream come true. I have a love of colour and aesthetics and a background in gemology and jewellery design and retail. I make all my accessories while my little cherub sleeps, I design what I love and I hope others do too!

1. Be organized, make lists, prioritize, be disciplined with your time
2. Constantly work on your product photography – think like a consumer when you review your photos
3. Promote your product and other handmaidens too. I love the handmade revolution, especially the flexibility it allows for stay at home mums – wouldn’t it be awesome if we are all winning?!
