How do you juggle being a Mum and having a biz?

I don’t? Seriously, if someone has the answer to this please tell me…

However; some things that I find helpful in the juggle are plentiful coffee, using your village aka family and friends, recognising when you need time-out from your biz-life and using a planner/diary like your life depends on it (because it does).

The juggle is real!

Tell us about your biz and WHY you do what you do

Borne Too is a breastfeeding wear label that was created after the birth of my daughter. I would describe my style as tomboy-chic, and I couldn’t find breastfeeding wear that made me feel like, well, me. I wanted to design versatile breastfeeding basics that could blend seamlessly into women’s wardrobes, where mums could wear what they love but still have the practicality to be able to comfortably breastfeed their baby.

If you could go back in time and offer advice to your former entrepreneur-self what would you say?

Go SLOW and allow yourself time to make decisions and plan.

What does success mean to you?

Success to me means happiness resulting from working towards something. If you achieve everything you want without happiness, then are you truly successful?

What has been your hardest lesson learned?

That not everyone will see your project or ideas as preciously as you do.

Finish this sentence – If I wasn’t my own boss right now I’d be…

I’d be slowly going insane as a SAHM. So instead, I am going slowly insane as a SAHM, as well as building a business.

What are you most proud of to date?

I feel inclined to say my children, but I’m assuming most people know that’s a given!

Truthfully, I am most proud of actually launching my online store. I had help from friends and family but essentially I did everything myself, from building my website to organizing my pre-launch night. I had a two-year-old, a newborn and my husband was working away more than he was home, so I was juggling everything. When I reflect on just how much was going on, I feel pretty damn proud that it all came together!

Meet Jessie! 

Jessie is a mum-of-two, registered nurse and sometimes artist happily married to a commercial diver. They have been living the FIFO life for around 7 years, and it’s tricky but they continue to somehow make it work. Jessie enjoys torturing herself at boot camp classes, drinking a maximum of two cups of coffee each day (bf life) and debriefing with other mums about the trials of the ‘hood.
